Australian Standard AS1754 for Car Seats & Boosters

The Australian Standard for Car Seats and Boosters is updated regularly with new inclusions and requirements. As part of the current Australian Standard for Child Restraint Systems for use in motor vehicles, the following are just some of the requirements to be met:

Rigorous side impact testing including the use of a simulated door
Tests to ensure child restraint shall minimize the possibility of hazardous impact with

the interior of the vehicle

Any harness or restraint which restrains the child in case of vehicle impact, shall be designed to minimize injury by absorbing energy or spreading the load, and thereby limiting the restrain loads upon the child
Tests for inadvertent release potential of buckles
Tests for minimal flammability of materials
Tests for durability of components
Tests for hazardous sharp edges or points
