Australian Standard AS/NZS 2088 for Prams & Strollers
The Australian Standard for Prams and Strollers is one of the strictest in the world. It is updated regularly with new inclusions and requirements. As part of the current Australian Standard for Prams and Strollers, the following are just some of the requirements to be met:
- Introduction of a minimum force required to operate a secondary locking device
- Positioning of crotch strap to ensure ultimate safety
- Positioning of release devices to ensure sufficient clearance and out of way of baby
- Primary and secondary locking devices to be separate and act independently to ensure no mishaps
- Head barrier probe test to ensure baby does not move backward or become entrapped
in the structure or trims
- Foot area probe test to ensure baby does not move forward or become entrapped by
the neck on the structure or trim of the vehicle.
- Tests to ensure stability and durability
- Tests for security of wheels and locking devices
- Tests for hazardous sharp edges or points
